Heat treatment of metals and metalurgy
The tempering plant AVC, a. s. Čadca is equipped with devices and appliances allowing heat treatment of products, i. e. they allow maximum use of characteristics of metals and consequently decrease their consumption.
-
Annealing - it consists of heating to a temperature, maintaining the temperature level and consequent
low cooling. The aim of annealing is to eliminate unbalanced, and to reach a balanced condition of material. From the
point of view of pre-crystallizing, we arrange the following:
- annealing without pre-crystallizing, when stage changes do not occur
- annealing with pre-crystallizing, when stage changes occur - they significantly influence the final conditions of a product
-
Heat treatment with unbalanced structure - we include a procedure, the aim of which includes reaching
an unbalanced structure. Then follows another heating cycle, which returns the state of the set close to balanced
conditions. In our case of this group, we realize the following:
- hardening, the aim of which is reaching a non-stable structure of martensitic type
- tempering, i. e. heat treatment of a hardened product, which leads to a structure closer to balanced conditions,
-
Thermal-chemical treatment - in this case we change the structure as well as the composition of
surface layers. In case of this method, there occurs a diffusion saturation of surface by selected non-metals.
In the AVC, a. s. Čadca tempering plant we perform the following:
- cementing
- nitro-cementing
For the above-mentioned methods of heat treatment we use chamber, rotation, continual and depth type furnaces with controlled atmosphere. The department of metallurgy arranges works necessary for reaching required quality in the tempering plant. It includes a control of chemical composition of material, chemical composition of surface layers, end-atmosphere, hardness of core and surface, as well as control of structure and course of hardness in surface layers.
